Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using WorldTouring for live guided tours.

WorldTouring essentials

What is WorldTouring?

WorldTouring is a live tour-audio platform for organizations and guides. One guide speaks live while guests listen from their own phones.

Do guests need to install an app?

No. Guests open the tour link in a supported mobile browser. They do not need to install WorldTouring or create an account.

How do guests join a tour?

Your organization shares one tour link. It can be sent by email or text, included in a booking confirmation, placed on an event page, or opened from a QR code.

Is a QR code required?

No. The shared tour link is the core way guests join. A QR code is simply one convenient way to distribute that same link in person.

What does the guide need?

The guide uses a phone or headset to provide the live audio for the tour.

Can multiple guests listen to the same guide?

Yes. WorldTouring is designed for one guide to share live audio with the guests joining that tour session.

Can guests join after the tour starts?

Guests can join a live tour after it has started, subject to the tour’s availability.

What happens after a temporary network interruption?

A guest can reconnect to the tour after a temporary connectivity interruption using the same tour link.

Is WorldTouring designed for organizations with multiple guides?

Yes. The organization workflow supports multiple guides, scheduled tours, and organization administration.

How do I contact WorldTouring?

Tips for a Better Tour

How can I make the tour feel more personal?

WorldTouring works best when the technology stays in the background and the guide remains focused on the guests.

Consider using a small lapel microphone or one-ear headset rather than earbuds or large headphones. This helps the guide stay approachable and able to interact naturally with the group.

During walking portions of the tour, guides should keep their phone put away whenever possible. Stops are a natural time to briefly check questions submitted through the app before continuing the tour.

What is the easiest way to get a group into the tour?

Make joining as simple as possible. Guests do not need to install an app; they can open the tour directly in their mobile browser.

A QR code is often the easiest option for an in-person group. Consider placing the same tour QR code in several locations:

  • On a guest sticker, ticket, badge, or handout
  • On signs where guests gather before the tour
  • On a small sign or card carried by the guide

Once the group gathers, the guide can ask anyone who has not yet joined to scan the code.

You can also share the tour link by text or email, giving guests another way to join if they have trouble scanning the QR code.

Should the guide use their phone throughout the tour?

Ideally, no.

The guide's attention should remain on the guests. Use the phone when it adds value—for example, at a tour stop to review questions submitted by guests—but avoid continuously managing the phone while walking or speaking with the group.

How should I organize a large group into smaller tours?

If your organization already uses colors, stickers, numbers, tickets, or other visual identifiers to divide guests into groups, keep that process.

WorldTouring can complement the existing system by associating each group with its own tour link or QR code. Guests can identify their physical group and join the corresponding digital tour with a single scan.
